Some 12 years ago, YS Rajasekhara Reddy had visited the US. In May 2007, he attended the world agriculture summit and discussed ways and means to facilitate government support to the ailing farm sector. His speech at the summit still rings in the ears of the NRI community.
Despite being in the US, YSR was attired in the traditional Telugu dhoti and shirt. Along with his friend and classmate Premsagar Reddy, he visited several farms in the US. The memories of YSR’s historic visit are still fresh in the minds of the expat community.
Now 12 years later, YSR’s son YS Jagan is touring the US in his capacity as the CM. Though a personal visit, Jagan is using the opportunity to interact with industrialists and to encourage them to invest in Andhra Pradesh. His ideas like transparent governance, using judicial commission to root out corruption in tendring process and others are proving to be a big draw for the industrialists to invest in AP.
Many investors are happy that the CM wants 75 per cent of the jobs be given to the locals. This would address the issue of unemployment in the state, they feel. Incidentally, both YSR and YS Jagan are visiting Dallas and are addressing the NRI Telugus.
