TDP’s most popular Kapu face and Vijayawada strongman Bonda Umamaheshwara Rao met former CM and TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday. Bonda, a former MLA, has been playing hide and seek with the party for quite some time and is being rumoured to have planned to leave the party.
Even during his recent tour of Australia and New Zealand, he kept away from the TDP supporters and did not attend any of their programmes. It was also rumoured that he would make a major announcement soon after returning from the foreign tour.
On reaching Vijayawada, he met Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati and discussed various issues with him. However, he has refused to divulge any details of the meeting. Bonda Uma is rumoured to be planning to join the BJP. Several other Kapu leaders are also planning to join him in this exodus.
Uma has been one of the strongest voices of the TDP during the ten years when the party was out of power. However, this time around, after the party lost power, he has been keeping a low profile. Hence, his meeting with Chandrababu Naidu on Monday assumes significance.
